The term shin splints is not actually a diagnosis as mentioned earlier, but a group of problems causing a typical pain. Therefore, your doctor will perform a careful medical history and physical examination to determine the cause of the shin splints. The area of maxim pain will be different in different runners who have different underlying problems that cause the shin splints.

Buying the most expensive shoes you can afford based on the running surface is a very good investment.  Wearing comfortable clothing that keeps your body temperature at the proper level will pay off.  Wearing the latest blasting orange bit of nothing running costume is actually very sensible.  Staying cool and catching the eye of the idiot in the auto bearing down on you, pays off.

But no, you dont want to bother, so here are some tricks of the trade!

Once you are in trouble and standing along the side of the path there are some things to get some relief until you can make it to the nearest drugs!

Rub your muscles- run your thumbs over the painful muscles, top and sides for a few minutes.  Once they are a little looser, move up and down on your toes.  Your body will naturally seem to ask you to move the muscles to relieve the pain.  Get the blood moving through those muscles.

Once you can take your doctors suggested pain reliever and ice it down you should be working it out.

Then, sign up for the next appointment with a trainer because you wont want to go through that screaming experience anytime soon.

Dear Sir/Madam:
I am a team physician of high-school long distance running team and interested in using Goode Wraps for my athletes with shin splints, but I live in Japan.  Do you have a dealer in Japan or can you accept an international order from Japan?  Also I would appreciate if you can give me some information about mechanisms of alleviating pain by Goode Wraps (to explain athletes to use it).

Advanced Wraps Used by Varsity and Professional Athletes

Doctors prefer terms such as lower leg stress, posterior tibial syndrome, periostitis or tendinitis to shin splints.  Irrespective of what you call it, it really means that your shins ache and hurt.  Pain in the front or inside part of the lower leg are shin splints. The muscles of the lower leg where they attach to the bone becomes inflamed, or Tendinitis.

Runner.gif (2102 bytes)Shin splints often arise because people tend to overdo it, especially when it comes to exercise. But exercise is important if you are an athlete, particularly a varsity athlete. The Goode Wraps have been used by a number of Universities to solve shin splints.  Two of these are BYU and Clemson.  A number of exercise programs can lead to aches and pains, and sometimes a trip to the trainer for treatment of an exercise-related injury. Basketball players, for instance, often complain of pain in the shins, otherwise known as shin splints. Soccer players, tennis players and others who participate in sports that involve a lot of running get shin splints, too.

Basketball players starting the season start and stop quickly adding great stress to the lower legs.  Some shin splints occur because people do not have proper training habits.  Problems in training may be caused by faulty or the wrong equipment, sometimes the shoes. Another error is changing training routines without allowing time for the body to adjust.   Shin Splints often show up at the beginning of the year.

Posterior tibial  in the front portion of the legs, account for about 75% of the problems affecting athletes.  Tibial periostitis occurs further toward the back of the leg than posterior tibial shin splints, and the bone itself is tender.  Anterior compartment syndrome affects the outer side of the front of the leg.

I wanted to let you know what a wonderful product your knee wrap is.  I have a 14 year daughter who playsBsktball.gif (2375 bytes) basketball, volleyball and softball (at the same time) and was suffering from shin splints and patella tendinitis.  I ordered one of the knee wraps and in 3 days the swelling was completely gone.  From time to time it will reoccur and she will immediately put the wrap on.  Usually in less than 12 hours she is as good as new.  Recently she suffered a deep thigh bruise and moved the knee wrap up to the thigh and in 2 days it was as good as new.  I just ordered a second knee wrap because she wants to wear one on each knee every night to prevent any further pain associated with the patella tendinitis.  It is a great product for my child and I will continue to recommend it to all of my friends.
